Back-End Software Engineer -full remote
Scope
Alliance products are used globally in laundromats, hotels, hospitals, universities, apartment complexes, fire stations and more. Our digital interfaces allow advanced remote management of laundry rooms and provide a convenient laundry experience for customers. We have the most comprehensive product suite in the industry, reinforcing the Alliance premium brand position.
Our Digital technology is built around a global IoT architecture, with enterprise cloud-based services communicating securely with both simple and sophisticated edge devices.
Our Digital Products team owns the full product lifecycle: we design, develop, and support our solutions. We use a Kanban approach to drive quality and predictability in our delivery, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
The Technical Lead leads a part of the team in delivering both new features and updates to existing solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a large back-end application composed of many different services, languages, and technologies.
Handle product support issues that may require back-end code changes and/or database data correction.
Ensuring optimal performance of the central database and responsiveness to front-end requests.
Collaborating closely throughout the day with other remotely located team members.
Develop high-performance and efficient features with testable and reusable code.
Build security and data protection into every feature.
Documenting backend processes, including database schemas, as well as preparing reports as needed.
Participate in product discovery activity, including customer interviews, story mapping, brainstorming, and prototyping.
Recommending and implementing improvements to processes and technologies.
Keeping informed of advancements in the field of Node.js development.
Required Qualifications
4+ years experience as a backend software engineer.
At least 3+ years experience with PostgreSQL.
At least 2+ years experience as a Node.js developer.
Extensive knowledge of JavaScript, web stacks, libraries, and frameworks
Availability to help with urgent issues outside of normal working hours
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills
Experience with Node.js inside of AWS Lambda functions.
SQL experience: being able to navigate normalized tables and optimize queries.
AWS services (Lambda, CloudWatch, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS, SNS, etc.)
Experience building public API’s.
Experience with IoT solutions.
